Capes and Cowls Forum

As you may be already aware I installed a shoutbox on the forum yesterday morning and now it has been removed.

I decided to remove it because:

• The code within it was causing a problem for the front page link to recent forum posts.  This issue was breaking the front page in a manner that caused it to be unreadable.  There was a related problem with the forum syndication feeds.  These are two aspects of the site I am keen to keep operational
  
• It caused three times more bandwidth to be used in the 18 or so hours that it was on the board than in the whole of preceeding month!  Admittedly a certain amount of this is due to the novelty factor, but given a choice of having arcade or having a shoutbox I know which one I would choose.

Of course all this isn't to say that I have decided against having one.  I will just try to find one that doesn't cause these issues and looks better too!  Maybe I will have to write one myself, but if it comes down to this it will not be arriving soon as there are more productive things to be done on the site. 

My apologies to all those of you that are fans of shoutboxes.
