Title: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Kim on October 22, 2006, 03:38:58 PM I'm not sure if a thread like this already exists because I cant be bothered to look, but I thought a thread about Macro's and Codes would be quite usefull. So if you know any usefull Macro's, Codes or anything else cool that you think might make peoples life easier, or at least entertain someone for a few minutes, then write them here.
You could also post here if you need to know a Macro or Code. All those Kheldian powers and nowhere to put them? Ask away. Want to know how people get those groovy transparent speech bubbles. Look no further. Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Kim on October 22, 2006, 04:26:31 PM I'll get the ball rolling with those transparent speech bubbles. Guaranteed at the very least to impress newbies and make you look like a veteran ;)
There are 2 versions of this code. The first is without the grey "AFK" bubble above your head that you may see some people using. /bind enter "beginchat <color blue><bgcolor #0000001><border blue>" The second is with the grey "AFK" bubble above your head. This grey bubble can contain a brief message for other players to read that sits over your avatar's head whilst you are typing. To enter the message you want, simply replace what I write below in italics, which is just an example, with your own message. Please also note that the italics are too just to highlight, you dont need to make them italics when you do this for real :P /bind enter "afk sssshhh I'm thinking$$beginchat <color blue><bgcolor #0000001><border blue>" You will need to write these codes exactly as they are written here. Please notice the American spelling and pay attention to the position of spaces, or lack of them. A space between 'thinking' and '$$' for example will prevent the code from working. The colours I have used are also just for example. You can experiment with any colour you want, to see if it works. I've used red, green, yellow, gold, white and silver myself. The #0000001 part of the code relates to the transparent background. I have seen people using semi-transparent backgrounds to their bubbles too. If anyone knows the correct sequence of numbers to make this happen, or has any other variation, please post them here. When you press enter to talk, you will see the code you have entered appear in your chat box. Do not delete this or the bubble will be its usual black and white. Simply type what you wish after the code as normal. These codes will not work on any keybinds you may be using. Because what this code does is enter itself into your chat box before what you type, and because a keybind bypasses this process, your keybinds will be their default colours. I dont know the code, if there is one, to make keybinds transparent but if someone does, please post them :) Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Kim on October 22, 2006, 04:37:28 PM I may aswell jot down the most basic Code of all, the keybind, for those ultra newbies out there :) I was rather pleased when I first heard of this, as its exactly the same as that for Quake III, a game i know very well. Again just place your own message, or key you wish to use, in place of my examples.
/bind G say Grats! Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Kim on October 22, 2006, 04:46:19 PM This code is an extension of the keybind code and can be used to direct a keybind message to a player or even an NPC. Again change my examples to suit your needs.
/bind H say Hello $target Variations on this could be: /bind 0 say I'm holding a megaton of Hell $target and its pointing at you! /bind 9 say $target you'll look great on the end of my shoe! Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Conflagrant on October 22, 2006, 05:09:17 PM Nice thread idea mate. Worth a sticky?
Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: HadesInferno on October 22, 2006, 06:12:49 PM Great thread, mate. I applaud thee.
I have one bind that I use regularly and that's /bind g powexec_name sprint And I use it until I get a travelpower, at which point I switch to that on the same button. For everything else, I have to ask every time :D Now I only have to take a look in here. Thanks buddy. Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Kim on October 22, 2006, 07:06:03 PM Thats a nice little macro never thought of that. Yeah go ahead and sticky it Conf if you like
Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Conflagrant on October 23, 2006, 03:11:58 AM Helion,
Stickied as discussed. If this grows far enough I will edit it and make a page for the main site too! I promised someone an age ago that I would write a /bind guide but never did. :-[ It is still on the "To Do" list however. Here are a few binds/macros I use regularly: /macro LFT "broadcast Level $level $archetype looking for team!" Moves with your level so you don't have to keep changing it. To be totally honest I normally change $archetype for something like "kinetics troller" but $archetype will work ok. /macro HI "team Hello, $target!" As well as being useful as a quick greeting while fighting for your life, this can be used to warn of bosses and incoming enemies. eg Hello, Infernal! A message like this wakes up most players! ;D /macro TM? "tell $target, Want to team up?" I hate leading teams. Why? Because my typing sucks... Binds like this at least make it bearable and it is much better than blind inviting. All of the above binds make a little grey button in your toolbar as they are macros and not /binds, but they would work as well as a keybind of your choice. I personally have three trays open almost from level 1 so the number of buttons isn't an issue. (The "Alt Gr" key on your keyboard opens more trays, if you are wondering) Lastly, the ubiquitous teleport bind. /bind lmouse+lcontrol "powexecname teleport" You hold left control down and then left click on the screen where you want to teleport to. Easy huh? The only caveat is that you must have what the devs call a valid cursor. This means that you can't teleport onto vertical walls and stuff, but you knew that already right? ;) I'll put up more later. Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: HadesInferno on October 23, 2006, 05:25:19 AM Quote /bind lmouse+lcontrol "powexecname teleport" Sweet mother of god! So much I don't know, I feel like a n00b again! :D This is so handy!Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Dilvish on October 23, 2006, 03:31:42 PM Hmm I used to know a few, lets see if I can remember the right wording
/bind Shift+lbutton, Powexec_toggle_on Teleport /bind numpad9, "target_custom_next Quantum" - I think thats right, use it on my PB quite alot, its an auto search that auto-targets any quantums in your line of sight. I put this one here because I use it on things like my controllers so I can target a danger quickly aswell. /bind numpad4 "Say, Do not mess with $targets for they are cunning creatures and will piss in your computer..." My Peacebringer Binds Were - /bind numpad1 "goto_tray 1$$powexec_toggle_off White Dwarf$$powexec_toggle_off Bright Nova" /bind Enter "goto_tray 1$$powexec_toggle_off White Dwarf$$powexec_toggle_off Bright Nova$$Powexec_toggle_on (Can someone give me the name of the Peacebringer Heal, either The self-heal or Heal other can be used here for a quick change and health boost)" /bind numpad2 "goto_tray 2$$powexec_toggle_on Bright Nova" /bind numpad3 "goto_tray 3$$powexec_toggle_on White Dwarf" I think thats most of the ones I remember. If any of them don't work, its likely because I got them wrong, the one I'm unsure of is the Target next, I think I got the word order wrong, so just play around with it till it does work =] Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Kim on October 23, 2006, 07:06:02 PM Nice one Dil :) I had been given Kheldian Macro's before but couldn't remember them and am sure I messed them up at the time anyway ;D
Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Dilvish on October 24, 2006, 03:26:55 PM Its a pleasure dear Helion =]
Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Fiery Beret on October 25, 2006, 04:53:11 PM Dear Barbara, Dil, you really did your research for those binds eh!
My macro's for shape shifts look like junior school scribble compared to those. I'm impressed. Any idea what the code is for the simultaneous costume change and back-flip. i know the flip is e flip and i think the costume is K is it? I saw it done the other day on my friend's account over in the smelly old US of Arseholes. Looks mint tho. fb Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: HadesInferno on October 25, 2006, 05:21:24 PM Quote /bind lmouse+lcontrol "powexecname teleport" Actually, you don't have to specify "lmouse" as that is the default function. if you do /bind lcontrol "powexec_name teleport" you just press ctrl (no need to hold it in) then left click where you want to teleport. pressing ctrl does the same as left clicking on the teleport button in the power-tray, so it toggles the function to the left mouse-button. Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Conflagrant on October 25, 2006, 06:10:27 PM Thanks for that Hades.
I will try it out, but I sort of suspect I will be staying with the old bind. Unless I am mistaken, if I hit the control key by mistake and the left click I will tp, even if I don't want to? I use the mouse for targetting, as well as the tab key you see. It would be kinda embarassing to TP onto the guy I was trying to target for adebuff or something! lol Having to hold both stops you TP-ing by accident. Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: HadesInferno on October 25, 2006, 07:36:50 PM Quote Having to hold both stops you TP-ing by accident. I'd fully agree with you, if it worked that way :P but ctrl activates the teleport no matter how you write that bind, and even if you release ctrl before leftclicking you will teleport unless you hit ctrl again. I guess you've never actually made that mistake. ;)Seems to me that you can't use two buttons in the same bind, just as you can't activate two or more powers with the same bind. Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Dilvish on October 26, 2006, 06:19:53 PM Seems to me that you can't use two buttons in the same bind, just as you can't activate two or more powers with the same bind. I don't think mine works unless both buttons are pressed =\ then again, I've never tried otherwise. Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Kim on October 26, 2006, 08:35:41 PM Ok maybe we should just have stuff that is know to work otherwise people are gonna have to trawl through all the discussion to find what they want :P No need to worry about the merrits of one way or the other so long as everything works. All working Macro's and Binds are valid :) If you have an alternative method for gaining a result then maybe just say 'this is another way to do it' and give a brief reason why you like that particular method. But discussion about it will fill the thread with confusion and a whole lot of reading to do I think.

/bind F12 "targetcustomnext notmypet" Title: Re: Macro's, Codes, Emotes and other cool stuff. Post by: Major Fox on October 05, 2007, 10:00:33 AM Big thanks for the kheld ones. Really handy.
