I picked up the December copy of PC Zone today and the cover disk has a free 2 week or 10 hour, whichever comes first, trial of Guild Wars: Factions. Its not long but it should be enough to give you an idea about whether you like the game or not. For those unaware of this game, its a multi award winning MMORPG, but more to the point, its free to play with no online subscription fees.

I have a subscription for both guildwars games, and I like them somewhat. But I still feel that they have unnessecary flaws, and I would never quit CoX to start playing GW on a regular basis.

The biggest flaw in my opinion is, of course, that it's yet another in the huge pile of fantasy games. And I feel that the fantasy genre is spent beyond recovery.

i brought guildwars yesterday having a tiny break from coh.... is guildwars factions a whole different game or just an addon to the first?Huh??i should research these things really i knw im lazy.....

aas far as i found out factions is kinda like a mission pack for guild wars, kinda like CoV to CoH, new misions, new items and so on, but i might be wrong, i only have regular guild wars

Yeah I get the impression they are all seperate stand alone games all set in the same universe. If you are in one game you cant cross to the other, kinda like how CoH n CoV work.

Guild wars factions is a whole game in the same sense that CoV is a new game from CoH. It's a new world, new items, new mobs and a couple of new classes, but the same engine, and it is possible (for the highest level toons) to travel from one world to the other.

Where Guild Wars is kinda mideval europe, Factions is in a sort of feudalsitic asia setting, with asian looking player models, weapons, armor and architecture.
