Hi bud. Me n Dave were on that Battlegroup ( Nagrand server ) but we transfered our characters to Draenor on another Battlegroup. We discovered that the battleground queues were considerably shorter on Draenor's battlegroup ( Alterac Valley was upwards of an hour sometimes on Nagrand, its seconds on Draenor ).
A Warlock is a good choice m8. Its pretty noob friendly, being incredibly easy to level, on a par with Hunters, compared to other Classes. A top end Warlock is probably the highest DPS u will find, at least against single targets. They also get some nice shiney powers, which is something I love. If you ever play PvP, expect to get a rough ride till you have the gear tho. Rogues love to slice up unwary Warlocks

I'll suggest a build for you, should you be interested. You can take it or leave it, its your toon you play it the way you want

For levelling go Affliction. For a good Affliction build visit
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IEMriRbzqtbof0I0I This is my own Warlock build. It works well in PvP but more importantly is maximized for Grinding/Leveling. Less so at your level but once your a bit higher, with better gear, you simply never run out of mana or health. The improved Void Walker holds aggro very well. Unwanted adds aside, you will never have downtime.
The attack chain I use is to send in the Void Walker. Follow immediately with Curse of Agony, Corruption, Siphon Life (3 instant cast attacks, lovely in pvp

), Unstable Affliction ( u will have to substitute this for Immolate untill you have this power from the Affliction talent tree ), Life Tap, Drain Life and finally Drain Soul which gains you a soul shard and tops up your mana ( I recommend getting a Mod that autodeletes soul shards for you once they reach a set limit or you will be forever deleting them. Something like Shardace is good and does other usefull stuff too ).
You will notice the 2 talent points in Nightfall. The description of the talent doesn't sound very impressive, but you will be surprised how often it goes off ( know as a proc, or Per Random OCcurance ) when there is a constant stream of shadow damage pouring off your mob. Bind Shadow Bolt to a key and press it whenever it procs for an instant attack. On a lvl 70 in green gear this is over 1k damage instantly, 1600 or more if it crits. Factor in purple gear and your looking at multiples of these figures. Again there are Mods out there that will tell you when Procs are ready. You could google Warlock Buff Mods, but CT_Buffmod does this and is a good Mod. The talents in Improved Howl Of Terror, making it an instant cast AoE Fear, and Curse of Exhaustion which slows the targets movement speed, are a nod to PvP and not strictly necessary in PvE. Indeed an AoE fear in PvE could get you in a world of trouble, aggroing everything in a 50 mile radius

You can put those points in the Demonology tree if you like but it wont make much difference to your levelling.
I have all these attacks binded to just one key on a Macro. It goes as follows,
/petattack
/castsequence reset=target/combat Curse of Agony, Corruption, Siphon Life, Unstable Affliction, Life Tap, Drain Life, Drain Soul, Shoot;
Just keep pressing the same key for each attack.
U can add or take away any attack you like, just slot them in/delete them. Obviously substitute Unstable Affliction for Immolate untill you have it. The 'Shoot' I have on the end there is incase after all this your mob doesn't go down. It fires your wand. This will become increasingly unlikely as you rise in level, to the point where it simply wont happen on a non-elite mob.
To make a Macro, press the Escape key to bring up your Menu where you can Exit game etc and press Macro. Select New Macro and you get to choose an Icon for the button. Type the Macro in the space provided. You then place the Icon on your attack bar and Bind it to a key of your choosing. I find the F key works well.
For other Build suggestions I recommend
www.wowwiki.com They have cookie cutter builds for all Classes and is a great place to start. Once you know your toon and your play style you can adjust builds as you see fit, but I find this site points me in the right direction. If u want to skip the home page, a Google search for a build of any particular class will throw up wowwiki near the top of the list every time, e.g google Warlock Builds.
Finally, dont be scared of Mods. If you dont like them, or they are bugged, you can remove them again. But they will make your life so much easier. I have several mods that I consider essential. I simply couldn't live without them. Try a few small mods and see how you like it. Once your feeling brave you might want to try an entire mod package. I use a mod package called Mazzle_UI
http://mazzlefizz.wowinterface.com/portal24324.html for screenies and info. Its a complete overhaul of the game Interface and replaces your Blizzard UI completely. Its really for people who are Mod savvy otherwise its all a bit overwhelming, but it does work right out of the box, greeting you with a setup wizard when you first load up your character. To install a Mod you normally unzip the file and drag its contents to your World Of Warcraft/Interface/Addons folder. Then boot up the game and make sure that the mod is enabled. This can be done at the character screen at the bottom left. Also check that the 'load out of date addons' box is ticked ( top middle right of addons screen ). Mazzle requires that you delete your WFT folder and Interface folder and add its 3 folders to your Warcraft folder. You then boot up as normal.
To be sure you dont break your game, always backup your WTF folder and Interface folder and save them on your desktop or something. That way you can delete your newly messed up folders and replace them with the old ones. Always backup. If you dont, simply delete the WTF folder and Interface folder. Then boot up the game. The game will magicly create new folders for you and you will be back with the standard Blizzard UI like nothing ever happened

. You'll need to redo any keybindings and settings.
I appologise if I have overwhelmed you with information, I say one thing which leads to another and then another lol. But I hope it all helps. You certainly dont have to take any of this advice to have a fun experience in WoW. This is just stuff that I've learned on the way.
Happy Hunting
