New Gallery
Ongoing upgrades (1st November, 2006)

NEW GALLERY!

You may have noticed that the site has now gained a Gallery link in the top navigation bar.  Originally I was a bit concerned about bandwidth usage of the site and so I limited the size of uploads and pictures on the forum.  As I now have a better idea of the usage the site generates I can be a bit more liberal.

Sadly offsite hosting of images has meant that some photos have been lost as the offsite hosts delete the images after a certain period of time.  I have therefore decided to include a Gallery section to the main site to allow everyone to celebrate their in game (and otherwise) experiences. This will mean that your images should stay around semi-permanently (computers and back-ups willing!).

The download limits for the gallery are much more liberal (512k and 1024x768 image sizes) and this should allow the posting of any in game screenies that you may take without editing.  This limit will not allow a realistic video file however.  Should you require a larger limit to enable you to upload video directly please send me a personal message and I will enable this for your account.

Best wishes as ever.

Dave

As from today, 20th July 2006, the site is carrying some adverts served by Google Adsense.

I chose to do this as I am hoping that doing so will:

  • Pay for the on going costs of hosting this site
  • Give me the money to register the domain names for the future
  • Enable me to provide a free TeamSpeak (or similar) voice server

If I am really lucky then it may enable me to buy a few beers while seeking inspiration for new stuff for the site too!   Grin

As I am totally new to the whole "advertising on websites" idea I have no way of knowing if this will work, but the only way to find out is to try it!

Advert types and the positions of them will most likely change a fair bit over the coming weeks/months, but I will try to draw a sensible balance between inclusion and intrusion.  This is part of the reason that I chose Google Adsense, as the adverts can be themed to look part of the site, rather that using flashing banners and all the other rubbish that some companies use.

If you see an advert that you consider to be offensive in any way please contact me through the contact form on the main site.  Individual advertisers can be blocked and it will most probably take some time to get everything functioning as it should.

As ever, my best wishes to you all.
